What does it mean when a phone keeps beeping during a call?

Since your phone has multiple sound sources, it can be challenging to determine which one is causing the beeping sound. Fortunately, no matter why your phone is beeping when you call someone, the solutions below should help fix the issue.

More often than not, a misbehaving app will bombard you with notification alerts even when you’re in the middle of a phone call. Thus, we recommend checking if your phone has loose applications going out of control.
You can do this by temporarily restarting your phone in safe mode to turn off all third-party apps. Doing so will help confirm if a faulty app is causing the issue with your phone beeping during a call.

Step 2: Open the power menu by tapping the power icon under the quick settings panel.
Step 3: Press and hold the Power Off button to reveal the Safe Mode option.
Step 4: Click the Safe Mode button to restart and boot your phone into safe mode.
Step 5: Wait until your phone boots up in safe mode.
Note: Repeat Steps 1 to 5 if your phone didn’t enter safe mode.

Using your phone’s Do Not Disturb feature is an excellent way of stopping notifications from bugging you during calls. This feature helps prevent notification alerts from distracting you whenever you’re in the middle of a meeting or phone call.
The only downside to this feature is that it prevents you from receiving calls since they’ll go straight to your voicemail. Thus, you should only use DND if you plan on making the call to stop other notifications during your conversation.
If you expect an important call, you might not want to set your phone to Do Not Disturb. After all, it’s not ideal to miss crucial calls in exchange for stopping phone beeps when calling.
Step 1: Go to Settings.

Since most beeping sounds your phone makes are due to notifications from your installed apps, it only makes sense that turning them off will solve this issue. We recommend this solution if you don’t want to uninstall any of your phone’s apps.
However, this method will only work if your phone doesn’t have a rouge app that’s misbehaving and bombarding you with faulty notification alerts. Otherwise, you have no choice but to uninstall all suspicious apps, as recommended in the first solution.
Once app notifications are disabled on your phone, you should no longer receive sound alerts from your installed apps. As such, this solution should stop the issue with your apps causing phone beeps when calling.
Step 1: Go to Settings.
Step 2: Go to Notifications.
Step 3: Scroll down and click More to view all apps.
Step 4: Open the drop-down menu.
Step 5: Set to All to show your phone’s apps.
Step 6: Toggle off the notification switches on your phone’s apps.

Another way to stop your phone from beeping during calls is to set its sound mode to mute, which silences all sounds on the device. Even if a faulty app bombards you with multiple notification alerts, there won’t be a beeping sound to distract you.
This solution is optimal since it mutes all sounds on your phone, not just the notification alerts. Since it targets all sources of sounds on your phone, it’s the most effective way to deal with the persistent beeping sound issue.
It means you can use this solution even if you’re unaware of what’s causing the beeping sounds. After all, a solution that can stop all potential sound sources on your phone is best for preventing the beeping noises on your calls.
Step 1: Go to Settings.
Step 2: Go to Notifications.
Step 3: Set Mute as your phone’s sound mode.
Step 4: Turn on Temporary Mute if you want to mute your phone for a limited time.

Like the previous solution, a factory reset excels at targeting all possible causes of malfunction and errors on your phone. It’s a handy solution when you have no idea what the root cause of the problem is.
While incredibly effective, performing a factory reset presents a drawback since it causes you to lose all your saved data. Therefore, it’s advisable to only resort to this solution as a last resort after trying all the abovementioned options.
WARNING: Before you factory reset, please back up all essential files so you won’t lose them to the process.
Please note that most phones nowadays offer a system and data backup feature. If possible, we recommend backing up your important files so you can recover them once the factory reset is complete.
The only time you shouldn’t rely on a backup is if your phone has malware or a virus infection. Since malware will latch into your data, it’ll be on the backup file and continue attacking your phone if restored.
Step 1: Go to Settings.
Step 2: Scroll down and open System Settings.
Step 3: Scroll down and open the “Back up and Reset” menu.
Step 4: Click Reset Phone.
Step 5: Select the Erase All Data option to factory reset your phone.
