The Different Locations of the Power Button on LG TV Models

The power button placement varies from one LG TV to another and depends on its type, manufacturing date, and model.

The good news is most of the newer LG TV models, such as OLED TVs, QNED TVs, NanoCell TVs, and Ultra HD TVs, adopt a similar power button placement. So, it’s a lot easier when you’ve just bought a smart LG TV recently.

The power button on most of these models is usually found in the middle and underside of the TV’s frame, just below the LG logo. In this sense, the logo can guide you in locating the feature.

In a sense, it can be challenging. But to give you an idea, below is a table we’ve compiled that lists some examples of where the power button on LG TV is based on its model and type.

Of course, if your LG TV model is not here, a little Google should help you. Alternatively, the official product support page of LG should be spot on.

1. In the middle of your LG TV’s underside.

The LG logo on your Smart TV is the best place to start your search for its power button. It’s like a marking tool that also serves as the straightforward answer to the question, “Where is the power button on LG TV?”

This is especially true if the LG logo is located dead center at the front and bezel of the TV, directly below its display screen. From there, you should quickly find the power button sticking out on the underside of the LG TV’s bezel under the logo.

In this placement, the power button won’t be accompanied by other buttons as it works as a one-for-all button. Pressing it will open a control panel on the display screen to adjust the volume, channel, input source, and more.

Note: If you’ve turned on your LG TV using the remote control, you’ll notice that the standby light is also located here. This is a good indicator that the TV’s power button is located here as well.

2. On the left and right side of the back of your LG TV.

Another place where this button is usually placed is on either the left or right side of the back panel. With this placement, the power button will come with other button controls.

This combination of buttons makes up this control panel that you can use to operate your LG TV without your remote control. Unlike the control panel that appears on the display of newer TV models, this version consists of physical buttons.

Here, you’ll find that the power button comes with the program/channel and volume buttons. You can also see that it has a confirm button, a save button, and a source button.

Note: Depending on the LG TV model and the region of manufacturing, this type of power button placement can be seen on the left or right side of the back panel and directly behind the bezel.

3. On the front panel at the left or right corner of the bezel (touch control).

Some LG TV models that don’t use physical button controls will come with a touch control panel instead, which is located on its bezel. This placement is common in LG TVs that have a slightly wider bezel on the bottom compared to the top and sides.

It’s in touch panels like this where the power button on LG TV is commonly placed for ease of access. Unfortunately, we believe this is the worst control panel layout not because of its location but because the power button doesn’t stand out.

The power button is the first button you interact with so we think it should be easy to spot and recognize. Plus, its power icon can be hard to see, and since it’s a touch control, it can also lead to confusion for those more familiar with physical buttons.

4. In the left or right corner of the underside of your LG TV.

Aside from the middle of your LG TV’s underside, it’s also in the left corner where the power button on LG TV is found. Another similarity is that it’s only the power button as well, also sticking out, and is where the standby light and IR sensor are located.

You can also use the power button to open the control panel on the display screen of your LG TV. The options on this in-display control panel can be navigated by clicking the power button once.

After highlighting the desired option, you can press and hold the power button for about two seconds to confirm or make a selection.

Please note that you mustn’t hold the power button for too long to prevent shutting down your LG TV and rebooting it instead.

That should be an easy find. Then again, if you give the process some time, finding the location of the button should be a walk in the park.

5: On the front panel at the right corner of the bezel (physical button).

Unlike the touch control panel, some LG TVs use a physical button on the bottom bezel of the display. On this bezel is where the power button is situated for this type of button placement.

Instead of putting all the control buttons together in one panel, the power button is alone with the remote control/IR sensor. Below it, you can find the buttons for volume, channel, menu, input, and enter on the underside of the bezel.

Here, the power button is easy to spot as it’s the only physical control input you see on the bezel. The LG TV’s frame doesn’t look as clean as the newer models with the power button hidden on the underside but this placement guarantees no confusion.

Note: You’ll only encounter this type of power button placement if you still own an older LG TV model. So, if you have this placement, this speaks to the kind of TV you bought.
